7 Down, 5 To Go

by Marcy on July 31, 2010

Here we are, the very last day of July. LaBrett and I just squeezed in our race for this month, the last day. Whew. We made it. The race was at the Legacy Park in Arlington, Texas. It was a flat, fast, shaded route. One that I would love to run again. And since we vowed to do one race a month for the 2010 year, I was already on the hunt for our August run. I did find a run that happens in 2 weeks, same place we ran today. I kind of giggled a little when I found out that todays race did not offer an event shirt and my running buddy was slightly disappointed! She will be happy to know that the race in 2 weeks – same place, different charity – does in fact offer an event shirt.

And speaking of running, I am entering the halfway mark until the half marathon. This week brings on some pretty steady mileage increases every other weekend. I am feeling pretty good about things, more so than when I did this a couple of years ago. I am stronger, a little leaner and the running is not so new to me any more. I hope for a better time this go around and to be injury free. That is my goal, to be injury free. And if that happens, then I know I can shave off some time from the last 1/2 marathon. Another thing are my shoes….honestly, what the heck!? I am on my 3rd pair of the same style that I was fitted for a couple of years ago. I love them. They are awesome. Until recently. My left foot started getting blisters. Today, I decided to go and get re-fitted. The people at Luke’s Locker in Colleyville were so wonderful. One thing they let me do that other shops have not was let me go outside and run in them. Seems like such a simple thing, but these will be for running and if I want a proper fit, let me run in them! Any how, the service I got from them was simply wonderful. I ended up with a pair of Mizuno shoes. When I put them on, I was in love! I cannot wait to try them out tomorrow. Supposed to be my long run but the guy at the shop said no more than 5 miles for a new pair of shoes on the first run. Soooo, 5 miles it will be. I will just have to play catch up through out the week to get back on track with the training.

A couple random bits of information now that I have posted enough on running for today.

1) We have one last hoorah for the family before school starts back up.
2) Entering week 3 of the p90x. Such a great program and happy that I found a way to merge it in with my running program. (ooops, another mention about running)
3) Getting ready to start painting on my canvases. I have been inspired by Shannon because she has so diligently been working on their house.
4) Already have a weekend planned for next summer to head down to San Antonio for Cowboy Training camp.
5) Everyone got their time off approved for the holidays. So now, we get to decide which of those days will be spent in WI with my mom and Roger. Been far too long since we have had a holiday together.

That is all for now.
