Just 3 Days of Freedom Left…

by Marcy on August 19, 2010

School starts on August 23rd so here it is, the last week of freedom for this summer. But what a fun summer it was, for everyone. May consisted of our trip to Vegas, which we did not take Aubry with us. But she did not suffer! She got to go to school instead. Okay, so maybe she suffered a little…but she did survive. June brought a weekend in Austin with LaBrett to do June’s 5K race. Which, by the way, we are 8 for 8 for the year so far and will finish strong with the 5K in December out at White Rock. Who knows, I might even do something stupid and run that half marathon too. Ha. We shall see how I feel after the a half in September. Dang it, there I go again diving off into running. Back to the summer… July brought on the Port Aransas vacation which was with the Homuth family. It was the kiddos first time to the ocean and the first time for her forearms to get sunburned. Yeah. Seriously though, it was an awesome time. In between all the out of town stuff, there was swimming, movies, gaming, water parks, solo time, hanging with friends, sleeping in, um…running, uh…lifting, etc. (had to throw the last 2 in there!) And we can’t forget the awesome 4thof July we had with the party on the street in our neighborhood complete with cookout and fireworks. (Yes it is legal where I live!) I know there is much more that I am leaving out but as we bring this summer to a close, just remember there is another summer coming next year!

  • Side note: For those families that got rezoned which is causing their kids to go to a different school away from their friends (I am not bitter and neither is my daughter…), may this year bring new adventures and new friends. Yes, I am talking to you, daughter of mine! May you all make the best of this change and realize this is yet another opportunity to meet new people and make new memories. Dang, I started to get all sentimental there for a moment.

As for the rest of this year, we hope to finish it out with a bang. A couple of things coming up are the ½ in September and the much anticipated trip to WI to see my mom and step-dad for the holidays. Nothing has been confirmed, but we are 90% sure we are making this trip. There are a couple of factors to consider but time off is not one of them. Hunter and I both got our time approved and it is during Aubry’s holiday break from school. Soooo, there is no reason we can’t book that flight and be on our way in December. Right!?

*peace out and keep moving!
